Storage and Speaker Box

One of the problems with a Wrangler is a definite lack of semi-secure storage space. Mopar offers an optional deck cover for the space behind the rear seat. The main problem with that is that when you open the tailgate, stuff falls out. In addition to the storage, I have also been somewhat disappointed with the bass output of the stock 6½” speakers. That was when I got the idea to make my own box. I took some measurements and liked the numbers I came up with. It was cheaper and more useful than the “Option” Mopar offers, and if I open the tailgate, all the stuff doesn’t fall out. Plus I can access the stuff from the inside with the top up.

Note: I have recently modified the box so I can put in my Power Tank Clone. The speaker had seriously deteriorated due to water, sun and loud music damage. The whole project took approximately 24 hours. Here are the blueprints.
